VISION
We want to strengthen youth, striving to give young individuals self-confidence and zest for the future, in order for them to become their own agents of action.
MISSION
We seek youth environments to start up projects in co-operation with committed people with the goal of creating locally anchored projects. We facilitate a framework for self-realisation and inspirational action.
TARGET GROUP
We aim to work with youth all over the world! In our perspective youth is defined as a ’state of mind’ and not necessarily age related.
CORE VALUES
Self-confidence
We believe that self-confidence is crucial in order to act on own and community needs. Therefore we support projects that emphasise the belief that youth have the energy and potential to achieve great results. Building up self-confidence, realising their full potential give youth the strength to take action and influence their own and other´s life circumstances.
Inclusion
All our efforts rely on an inclusive approach to the people we work with. We wish to include anyone who wants to contribute. By focusing on the potential and resources of the individual or community, we strive to break down boundaries and challenge existing categories. We hold diversity to be a powerful development catalyst as it is in the encounter with the unknown that we learn the most about ourselves.
Interaction
We aim to broaden the understanding between different cultures and belief systems through interaction between youth both on a national and international level. The encounter and the cooperation which follows from each project, have the potential to break down boundaries between conventional categorisations and challenge taboos and prejudgments. Reciprocal action encourages diversity, accumulates awareness, and provides a platform to share skills and learn from each other.
Ownership
Ownership is an important element in making projects successful, as it encourages and give the people involved a sense of pride to experience that they have a voice in the decision-making process. Additionally, the responsibilities it inhabits give confidence and create a positive reinforcing process, making the project participants feel the urge and the possibility to act upon their own and others life circumstances.
Creativity
By being creative, we let loose, broaden our mind, test our abilities, and potentially become positively surprised about what we and others can do - together and alone. In our projects we strive to ensure innovative action by mixing different elements and environments and breaking down boundaries at all levels of our involvement, as we believe that this facilitates innovative and powerful results, which hold more potential than those which arise from conventional thinking.
APPROACH - HEART TO ACTION
HeartRebels’ overall aim is to support youth environments all over the world. We do this by cooperating with local partners in supporting creative and unconventional projects where youth have the opportunity to act upon their circumstances. By engaging themselves in activities of their choice and becoming part of the Heartrebels global youth network, the youngsters experience a development of their self-confidence. We believe that this is a prerequisite for necessary and continuous youth action, to make sure that all youngsters throughout the world can be heard, regardless of their geographical belonging!
The Revolution of the Heart
Our overall method relies on the peer to peer methodology, which revolves around interaction and exchange of experiences between likeminded peers. We aim to create a global network of youngsters who can benefit from each other’s experiences and skills. We do this by focusing on the potential of both the individual and their community in the projects. By always focusing on resources rather than limitations we communicate confidence in the youngsters through our project designs. By activating our core values in real life projects, we aim to enforce the conditions for strategic action by the participants. We believe that this is a prerequisite for creating fertile and sustainable products.
The projects potentially range from small events, to festivals, to youth houses, where people can interact, be creative, experience success stories and build self-confidence. Some are meant to generate funding for the actual youth houses, which serve the greatest purpose. Educating is also on the agenda. Always with the aim of strengthening the positive identifications to the self, so young individuals feel they have the power to influence their life and their surroundings for the better, taking the roles as agents of action.
The projects could be in Africa, South America, Denmark, or anywhere where opportunities exist, and where we can connect with stakeholders to provide value for those involved – at all levels. Our projects are transparent, meaning that interested parties will know exactly what we are doing, how, and why. Not only will we provide elaborate information, but the agents of action themselves will document developments, so everyone can follow the experience, from up close and afar.
Transparency enhances trust, and documentation strengthens the experience. We want to show the effects of getting involved, so people want to start getting involved and feel motivated to stay involved. We seek and build our own projects, which are completed in cooperation with local partners, but we also work with third-party project makers who need a partner to help realise their project.
How to support the revolution of the heart
We are constantly on the lookout for new exciting projects. If you have a project which you think might fit our vision please do not hesitate to contact us! We aim to include rather than to exclude and therefore the boundaries for the projects we accept are very wide. Rather we emphasise that our partners share our overall vision, and approach the projects with a serious and committed attitude.
The cooperation with HeartRebels can take many forms, depending on the individual project. HeartRebels can assist in project development, fundraising, and practical realisation of projects. We are open to your ideas and flexible to the need of your specific project to the extend our shared leaders are available. As a general rule one of the shared leaders is connected to the project as the primary contact for the external partner. Before each project a general cooperation agreement is signed by both parties to ensure the best conditions for the collaboration, and to evade possible misunderstandings before they occur.
