In the winter of 2009, the group of 12 artists and musicians met in a house in Tamale in northern Ghana for four weeks, where they exchanged music, art, and ideas. The collaboration resulted in a constellation of music and art that not only blended elements of the different genres and media, but also posed questions about social and cultural dynamics from today’s globalized society.
Get insight into a musical and visual world where Sababas offers an exciting exchange and fusion of various arts, music and politics which will be showcased at various Danish venues and festivals including Vega, Aarhus Music House, Trailer Park Festival and Raggapak. The project is supported by The Danish Cultural Institute, Center for Culture and Development, the Danish Arts Council and the Danish Music Association.
The idea behind the project and the cooperation between Sababas and HeartRebels is that music and art can serve as an alternative means to address sensitive issues, and break down barriers that prevent understanding and cooperation, both locally and internationally. Music and art makes it possible to communicate with other communities and create new perspectives on sensitive socio-cultural and political issues.
